The Grounding Mat is three thin layers pressed into one flat panel: a conductive carbon fibre layer, a water-resistant polyurethane surface, and a high density foam base.
The carbon fibre carries the connection. It's built into the mat itself rather than printed on top, and links to the earth through the earth slot of a standard earthed power point. That's the same connection that earths every appliance in your home.
The polyurethane surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, so bare feet and everyday use don't leave a mark on it.
The cord makes setup easy. Clip it to the connector on the mat, plug the other end into the earth slot, and the connection is made. No electricity runs into the mat.
The foam base grips the floor without marking it, so the mat stays where you put it. Set it under your desk, in front of the sofa, or beside the bed. A simple way to bring grounding indoors.

The Same Earth Your House Already Uses
Your House Is Already Earthed
Somewhere outside your home, a metal stake runs down into the soil. Your wiring connects to it. It's there so stray electricity always has a safe path back into the earth. Most Australian homes have one, though some older houses still have unearthed power points.
The Bottom Slot Is the One That Matters
Have a look at any power point in the house. The two angled slots on top carry the power. The straight slot underneath is the earth, and it leads to that same stake in the soil outside.
Your grounding cord only ever connects to that bottom slot. No power runs through it, and the connection is there whether the switch is on or off. The mat is simply connected to the earth outside, the same way the rest of your house is.
Skin Conducts Electricity
Skin conducts. It's why a static shock jumps from your finger to a door handle after you've walked across a carpet.
Anything that conducts can hold a static charge. Connect it to something earthed and that charge has somewhere to go. Stand barefoot on wet grass and the same thing happens on its own.
