Grounding Basics
It just means being in direct contact with the earth, the way you are when you walk barefoot on grass or sand. Indoors there's rubber, flooring and a bed frame in between, so that contact doesn't really happen. A grounding sheet gives you that contact indoors, through the same earth your house is already connected to.
Yes, both words describe the same thing. "Earthing" is the more common word here in Australia, and "grounding" comes from the US. We use grounding, but they mean the same.
Silver fiber runs through the cotton, and silver conducts. A cord clips onto the sheet and plugs into the earth slot of your power point. That slot runs to a stake driven into the soil outside your home, which is the same safety earth your whole house uses.
They can lie on it, and plenty of pets end up doing exactly that. Just keep an eye on the cord so it doesn't get chewed or pulled loose.
Product & Safety
No. The cord only ever goes into the earth slot at the bottom of the power point, never the two angled slots above it that carry the power. There's no current, no battery and nothing to switch on.
No. It's a passive piece of fabric with silver fiber running through it. There's no power source and no electronics, so there's nothing for it to emit.
The sheet needs an earthed power point, which is the standard three-slot type with two angled slots above a straight one. Nearly all Australian homes have these, but some older properties still have unearthed wiring. Worth checking your bedroom power point before you order.
Three slots usually means it's earthed, but not always, because a power point can be replaced without the earth ever being connected. A cheap socket tester from any hardware store tells you in a second, and a licensed electrician can confirm it.
Yes, as long as the building has earthed power points. The floor you live on doesn't matter, because the earth wire runs down through the building to the soil outside.
This is a bedding product for home use by adults. It isn't a medical device, it isn't meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything, and we can't give medical advice. If you're pregnant, have a medical condition, use an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker, or take prescribed medication, have a word with your doctor first. If anything doesn't feel right, stop using it.
A wall power point is always the better option. Some power boards and extension leads don't carry the earth through properly, and then you've got no connection at all without knowing it.
Using Your Grounding Sheet
On top of your mattress topper or fitted sheet, so it sits between you and the bedding underneath. Lay it across the bed, clip the cord onto the snap at the edge, and plug the other end in.
Either side. The silver fiber runs through the whole fabric, so it doesn't matter which way up it goes.
Better not to. The connection runs through direct contact, so anything in between gets in the way. Sleep directly on it, with skin touching where you can.
Sure. Most people have some skin touching the sheet anyway, whether that's an arm, a shoulder or their feet. You don't need to change how you sleep.
90% cotton and 10% silver fiber. The silver runs through the fabric as a grid rather than sitting on the surface, which is why it doesn't wash off.
Unplug the cord first, then wash it with the rest of your bedding on a gentle cycle at 40°C. No bleach and no fabric softener, because both coat the silver fiber and reduce how well it conducts.
Wash it on a gentle cycle, skip the bleach and the fabric softener, and unplug the cord before it goes in. Both bleach and softener coat the silver fiber, so leaving them out is the main thing.
